History:
All started in 1977 with a 12 channel AM Mobile transceiver from German warehouse called Quelle; an UNIVERSUM 12 Channel AM Transceiver with 0,5 watts output!!
Following Transceivers were Sommerkamp 712 P 12 Channel AM Home station and also Sommerkamp Mobile .... and so on....
DX career started with an ROYCE 40 Channel SSB Transceiver with first QSO to Spain and second QSO to Netherlands Antils, YEAH overseas (I always remember , 40 years ago)...... about 1978/79
President Jackson and UNIVERSE 5500 followed, mostly accompanied by an Emperor 300
Most DX all over the world including North/South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, appoved by QSL were made with the Universe 5500!

As often in life, interests are changing and due to a relocation and profession 11m became low interesting and also the band conditions decreased and was mostly closed..
In 1988 I started a new hobby, constructing RC controlled flying models. This became the centre of hobby efforts.... and is still in progress!
Down in the basement, the LINCOLN was always connected to an 1/2 Lamda Groundplane on the roof, but only switched on from time to time.....
One day I tried to transmit, but nothing happened? Controlling the system showed high SWR and a broken power amplifier in the LINCOLN. The antenna connector was broken due to corrosion inside the connector. So old was the connector!!
I sold it defect and bought another used LINCOLN ,which was mounted again in basement.This happened in 2004! But rarely used like the old one.
In 2020 I retired and started my second career in 11 m (now I have time!!) and bought a used YAESU 450 D and a new Sirio 5/8 Ground plane!In October 2021 I changed to Icom 7300, because of the waterfall.
And after registration in the cluster from February 21 you can find me again on triple five......... |
