Hello you worldwide radio friends.
My name is Andy ( Andreas)
I started radio in 1991. My first station was a dnt Start1 with a mobile antenna with a magnetic base.
At that time as an absolute "rookie", terms like SWR were only absolute technical jargon....
I don't want to know how my standing wave was up close. ;-) ... Hi Hi
The transition to the DX was not long in coming...
after an update of the station, it really took off in 1992 with a home station and a 5/8 vertical station antenna (Super 5/8 with 3 radials) in international radio....
In its time with 4Watt on 27,315 FM
At that time, the opposite stations always called " CQ the lady station "
...
it took me a few moments to understand that I was meant.... Of course, I was not yet in the break of voice and still had grade 1 Grin in music until then
... ok I digress a bit .... Hi Hi
I remember that time very fondly ... she will never be forgotten
In English class we just had Wales and especially the Brekon Beakon Park.
at the same time I had a QSO with a staion from Swansea / Wales and got a QSL package to send XXL format with plans and tourist information to Brekon Beakon Park...
my English teacher was of course really well received.
the rest of the class is probably more of a nerd in me, which of course I was by no means cool
Hi Hi
there were the first QSOs outside Europe with the USA and South America.
everything still with 4Watt on FM.
Then there was the first SSB transceiver in my shack
That was absolute madness, DX sealed off from local operators. With 20Watt on USB it was of course a great new experience and my DXCC list filled up more and more
Around 1998 there was a "cut" for private reasons, which unfortunately dragged on for over 20 years.
But the love of funk always remained!!
In 2023, the desire for the beloved hobby could no longer be held.
And so in September 2023 with my comeback to the DX the time had finally come ...
I started again at 0 DXCCs
with a KPO DX5000 and a Sirio S2016 vertical station antenna with 16 radials...
of my former radio clubs seemed to be wiped out, there was no further information on the net about the said ones...
Hmmm that meant of course I needed a new club because I didn't want a single operator without affiliation sen. :-)
I got my call at "ECHO KILO" and have been part of this group to date and have met many new nice and helpful people all over the world.
Promptly, the entry into the DX cluster took place ....
That was a real cinema for me for the moment, because even bad things like "EQSL" and mocking didn't know Shock at all
Well, man is a habituation animal... And of course it made everything so much easier ❤️.
.. As it is, you are not satisfied with current things and the desire for more was of course there... Of course, the radio operation was no longer comparable to that time😏
....
An update in the Shack was necessary to keep up with the many overpowering operators or to be heard at all.
There was then the switch to a horizontal antenna in November 2024
... a 4elem. Yagi
... wow my first directional antenna I was so proud and still am now.
And I am always happy to watch the people in my surveillance camera as they marvel 😂 in amazement as they pass by the turning of the antenna
This was followed by my first Ham Tranciever, a "Kenwood TS140S", it is of course a very old device, it runs great and of course you always want to have something new, radio as a hobby is a bottomless barrel anyway, everyone will probably agree with me.
But of course it's all cost-intensive. And in the end, much of it is probably more of a status symbol for one or the other. 😬
We write today as 17.11.2024 at the current level of 154 DXCC within a year I am very satisfied for myself...
I hope you like the entry in my nickpage with one or the other little digressions from life. 🤭
I am happy about every new acquaintance from anywhere in the world. No other medium unites people as free of prejudice as radio.
With this in mind...
Hope to catch U on air❤️
